The Glorious Mysteries

The Glorious Mysteries are prayed on Wednesdays and Sundays, and the Sundays after Easter.

After reciting each mystery, say 1 ‘Our Father’ and 10 ‘Hail Mary’, followed my ‘Glory be’ and Fatima Prayer.

1. The Resurrection

Let us contemplate in this mystery how our Lord Jesus Christ, triumphant over death, rose again the third day glorious and immortal.

Risen Lord, help us to rise above our feelings, to see and understand you, and to believe in you when nothing seems to be happening.

2. The Ascension

Let us contemplate in this mystery how our Lord Jesus Christ, forty days after his resurrection, ascended into Heaven, in the presence of his most Holy mother, and his apostles and disciples.

Lord, you returned to the Eternal Home to prepare a place for us. Help us to live in this world as true Christians doing everything you will.

3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit

Let us contemplate in this mystery how our Lord Jesus Christ, being seated at the right hand of God, as he had promised, the Holy Spirit upon his Apostles, who, after the ascension, returned to Jerusalem, and continued in prayer and supplication with the Blessed Virgin Mary, expecting the fulfillment of his promise.

Oh! Holy Spirit, come down on us as on the day of Pentecost and transform us completely to be your disciples.

4. The Assumption

Let us contemplate in this mystery how the glorious Virgin, many years after the Resurrection of her Son, passed out of this world to him, and was by him taken bodily into Heaven, accompanied by the Holy Angels.

Mother Mary, intercede for us to obtain a pure body, mind and spirit.

5. The Crowning of Mary in Heaven

Let us contemplate in this mystery how the glorious Virgin Mary was, to the great jubilation and exultation of the whole court of Heaven, crowned by her Son with the brightest diadem of glory, and how all the Saints rejoice with her in heaven.

Queen of heaven & earth, plead for us to your beloved Son Jesus, so that the whole world will come to believe in Your Son Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
